Specific HDR photo galleries
I was thinking that this site should have more specific posting areas in the Photo Gallery section such as Nature and Landscapes, Urban, Transporation, Animals, etc...

If this site takes off big time, it will help to have different forums for each type of gallery. I think Melanie already started to implement that idea with the Creationalist and Purist forums, but more specific sub-forums will help once we get several hundred threads going...

Great idea, guys. I've been trying to tweak the appearance of the page today, but when I'm done with that (phew!), I'll work on sub-forums. Thanks for contributing!

Re: Specific HDR photo galleries
Given the fact that this forum is "strictly dedicated to all interpretations of High Dynamic Range photography" it seems a bit strange to have a general photography subsection, where you can post all kinds of images, even if they're not HDR!. There are thousands of places on the web where you can post ordinary photographs, but there's only one strictly HDR forum and you should keep it that way. Don't give away your unique selling point by trying to include too much.
Also, be aware that adding more and more categories and subsections may not add to the user friendliness of this forum.

Hi - The reason why I wanted to put a photo-a-day thread was just to encourage members to post more often and be involved with the site, even if they might not have an HDR image to contribute at the moment. The Photo-A-Day thread is the ONLY place that someone can post a non-HDR photo. I really want this to be like a community, where everyone eventually gets familiar with one another. I belong to a great forum http://www.lostintimeue.com/forums that allows you to post a Photo A Day and it allows me to contribute and stay part of the group, even when I don't have any urban X photos to contribute at the moment.
And yes, I don't want to add too many categories. I think we're just about at the max now!
Thanks, HDArtist, for sharing your ideas.

Hi Melanie,
It's none of my business and only a small nit, but your avatar kind of sets my teeth on edge.
