Many of my pictures are taken while on the move without even looking at the camera, so more than one image at different exposures is out of the question.
Here is a recent picture

In photoshop I created two more images with the exposure adjustment one at -2 and one at -2
I then made an HDR image with Dynamic Photo HDR

I'd say it is an improvement but it's not spectacular. There's more detail, especially in the darker areas, as you would expect in HDR. There's also more color, but that's something you could have realised without HDR tonemapping.
