Is Melanie from the www.theswampbbs.com for the S2 forum?

Although it is technically not a tutorial, the video series on KelbyTraining by Matt Kloskowski is very well done. The name of the series is Real World HDR. It serves as a good primer on technique using Photomatix, but still contains enough "goodies" to be of value even to an experienced user.

The best tutorial I've seen was done by Ben Wilmore on the Xtrain.com website. He goes into a lot of detail with a lot of great tips. Ben tends to go for the slightly surreal look, but that's what I love.

Checked out your tut, thank you. I have done some HDR, but not in about 6 months. It was fun seeing what you did. I do have a question ? I used your combo to see how it worked. After I saved the first version, you mention about bringing it back into photomatix. If it's a single tiff, how do you do that ?

I am showing you what I did on my fake HDR, wanted to do a car like yours. I just ran it threw one time in photomatix.
I also duped the photomatix image in PS and used a softlight overlay, which really looked nice.

These are very overcooked..so be ready

I bet you didn't know Photomatix could do that.

The buildings were ugly as sin so I had to do something with them. I probably should have lowered the opacity of the clouds a little, but live & learn...

As long as you save the first pass as a 16bit tiff, you can reopen it. If, when you're opening a file, the tiff option isn't in the drop-down menu, I think you have to go to preferences and select the option that allows you to edit tiffs. I don't have Photomatix on the laptop so I'll double-check it when i fire up the fancy editing PC.

Thanks for the warning, Ed, lol. I like the third version the best, I think. The car is killer! If I could just make a suggestion, I think you might consider desaturating the buildings just a touch so that they don't compete with the car. Great job tho!

Thank you for mentioning the PhotoSig tutorial. Printed it and followed your instructions religiously. Have used both the Photomatrix image downloading and the CS-3 image aligning method (which Melanie suggests) and have gotten different, but interesting results. I was so dumb, didn't know you could tonemap more than once. Boy, does that create some "creationist" images. Still learning, thanks for your help.
